It was just in August 1984 under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas that GAIL was set up and got up and running since then. The firm was a joint venture project of the Hazira-Vijaipur-Jagdishpur (HVJ) gas pipeline, which the company was initially formed to develop and operate. GAIL went on to diversify its activities far beyond pipeline and took a plunge into such sectors as gas marketing, LNG, petrochemicals, and city gas distribution. Head office?
